In my current series “Broken Light” I am looking to create work that is aesthetically pleasing, perhaps beautiful in a traditional sense of the word, but which, at a closer look, reveals human struggle and suffering. This proximity should evoke hope, not despair; it should give out strength.
I am saturated with constant thoughts about the war my birth country is prosecuting with the purpose of genocide of Ukrainian people. I transmute this cascade of thoughts and feelings into mixed media art: collage of etchings, relief prints, monotypes, ink drawing, acrylic painting (and anything else). It is both my condemnation of the current events and my meditation to distress and find balance.
